can you download java with dialup? i keep getting an error!!?

i got on a chat line last week and the chat screen automatically downloaded, after that day, i couldn’t get on. while i was chatting on the bottom left of my screen i saw the java icon, where it’s gone i don’t know. so, know ing it’s java, i went to java.com, with dial up it took over 40 minutes, then an error came up. what am i doing wrong? is it because of having norton security? norton doesn’t think it’s safe? i’ve gotten some pointers with the previous questions and have printed them out. i have no problem downloading, i’ve got yahoo messenger and other stuff downloaded, just stumped with this. thanks for any help you can give me.

How can I set up computer workstations to access a dialup modem over the network.?

Our telephone system is digital (Nitzuka) and we have no direct outside line. So, an ordinary modem cannot connect.

My computer has a virus.?

I don’t know the name but it copies my ISP dialup and will autodial and send my to a teen porn site. I’ve run software to try to get rid of it with no luck. I think I found the file but cannot access or delete same. I’m not one with deep pockets so any help will be appreciated.
