You can’t connect 2 computers through 1 dial up modem. You could get 2 modems. If i were you , i’d get yahoo att internet. It’s pretty good right now.

Just hook up your cable connection through a wireless router, then buy an adapter. This will connect both computers to the internet.

Not with the modem but with the serial ports you can.
Why bother, put a broadband wired router between the cable modem and the PC’s and plug each into the router, then each has a direct connection out to the Internet. Setting up a wireless network is the same thing you just need wireless cards and a wireless router.

just get a router, their not expensive, and plug it into your cable modem in the Ethernet port then plug your computers in the LAN ports on the router

You don’t need to use the dial-up modems if you have a cable connection. Just install a router between the existing computer and the cable modem and plug the second computer into the router using standard Ethernet (Cat-5) cables. The router will allow up to 4 computers to plug directly into it and share that same cable connection.

No, a modem has one purpose and that is to dial out to a ISP. It sounds like you are wanting two computers to share the same Internet connection, if that is correct in my assumption, my suggestion is to buy a router. You will have a cable coming from your cable modem to your router and then your computers will be connected to the router and they will share the connection. On your computer you should have a network card on the back that a CAT5 cable plugs into, this will look like a overgrown phone wire. If you don’t have NIC card on your computer, you will need to install one or buy a Wirelss G Router. And then get you a wireless Network device that plugs into a USB port, that is also one way to prevent buying alot of cable also even if you have a NIC Card.
