I’ve heard about cell phone companies who offer a pc card and unlimited wireless broadband access for $60 a month and was wondering if this is a good way to go and if so which service is best?
this is primarily for business travel throughout the US

I live in Oklahoma and I have wirless internet in my apartment only. I went through SBC and they sent me a modem that I connected to my desktop and then it sends out a wireless signal for my laptop. It’s about 30 dollars a month.
SBC also has a wireless plan for around town but it was too expensive for me.

mobile like access point mobile (like a wireless router and a wireless card) or like for wifi (basicaly u make ur computer a cell phone…its not broadband but it works anywhere ur cell phone does…) a good wireless router is like a 3com, there easy to set up, very configurable, cheap, and reliable….and as for the card go for a (i forgot the name…its not a brand but a type…somethig 2) or a belkin… just make sure the type (B,C,D ect.) is the same

I have a Verizon EVDO card for my laptop, it works well enough. I’ve only had two places where I couldn’t use it and that was the airport in Bentonville, Arkansas and in Des Moines, Iowa. As a backup, I use a Treo 650 from Sprint. The Treo is a little slower than the EVDO card, but I can use it with the data support from my PCS Vision plan. I’ve had few problems in most areas with the Verizon card and it seems to work fine all along the eastern seaboard. I’d recommmend checking their coverage maps before ordering one though. If you mostly stick to major cities, you’ll have no problems at all.
Still, the Treo and the EVDO card are much slower than finding a good WiFi hotspot (but they’re still better than paying just to update your mail).
