i have a windows xp pc running a cox communications cable internet i recently installed a belkin wireless router so that i can offer access to my roomates laptop and select people in my apartment complex. after i started up the router i noticed a severe drop in the broadband on my wired pc. i believe the reason is that more then the people i want to use the net everyone has access to it. how would i go about blocking the connection so that only people who i allow to can access the connection that i am paying so much for?

I Have Cox, If i get a router and connect it so i can get wireless internet, will it be as fast?

I have cox high speed internet that i use for my regular computer What do i need to buy to be able to connect in my house wireless? Do i need a router? And how do i protect other people from using my internet connection? This is what i purchased, I would like to get it set up before my laptop comes in. Thanks.
