I have two home computers using dialup and work independently Not networked). They both have Windows XP and are in seperate rooms (one wall away). One computer hardly ever gets disconnected. The other newer computer frequently gets disconnected. Here is another mystery. When the problem computer disconnects the icon in the task bar stays there as if it were still connected. Remember, one computer hardly ever gets disconnected while the other one does all the time. Thanks.

I currently have both connected to the internet (DSL) using a router and Cat 5 cables. Both computers are Dell XPS computers one is XPS 500 and the other XPS 600. Thank you for your time!

I have 4 pcs and would like them to be able to use my dialup connection at the same time.I was told that networking them would be way to achieve this,but I don’t know what equipment or special devices I need . Can anyone help I am Computer iliterate.

I have Windows XP on both with DSL. Both are Dell computers. What will I need to do in order to set them up on the same network? Thank you!
I only have one computer connected. The other computer is in another room in the house. I’m on Ethernet Speedstream 5100 and DSL Router now. My nephew hooked it up. Thanks everyone for your answers so far!
Thanks Richard…the ethernet cable goes to the router. What would I have to do from there to the other room?
