How can I set up my home network?
I have two computers, both Windows XP and I have DSL with a router. I have tried many ways to set up my network, but I can’t do it. Also, what is a Domain? Yeah, please I appreciate your instructions to srt up my two computer. Thank you a lot!
Anyone have any ideas how to fix a network problem?
I’m using a EtherFast® Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port Switch – BEFSR41 – 1.0 – Linksys. I have two computers hooked up to the router and the router is hooked up to a VoIP cable/phone modem. My connection keeps hanging up. I have a splitter sharing connections to a cable box for the tv. Cable tv never gives me a problem but my internet connection freezes on either computer and when on the phone, sometimes it just goes silent. I tried calling the cable company and they say the splitter is bad. I have now replaced it for the 3rd time and I still have the problem. Right now I’m typing fast because I know that at any given moment my connection is going to freeze. Any help with this will be appreciated. Thanks.
1 Router, 2 Computers, Can I access the other computer through router?
I have two computers who access the internet through a router. I would like to access the computer “B” using computer “A”… Can I access it through the internet or through the router I have? If so, what do I do? I tried doing the setting up a home network but something isn’t working. What is a simple step by step way to check to see if I have access to the other computer files so we can swap stuff from one drive to another. (Thank you so much!)
I’ve got slow ethernet communication between two computers connected by hub… what should I do?
I’m using a hub to share a DSL internet connection between 2 computers and my XBOX. I suppose that, since we’re already there, I can network the 2 PCs so I can file share and stuff like that. My main PC uses XP professional, the other one uses windows 2000 pro.
I can call up a directory in the 2000 machine from my XP, but when I try to copy a, lets say, 5 MB file… the copying takes a lifetime.
Now, I’m not a CCNA, but I know enough to say that there seems to be network collision occuring when I try to communicate directly between the 2 PCs. When one of them tries to transmit, both NICs xmit lights glow and the collision detection light on my hub goes on too. Then there’s a pause, which I assume is the Ethernet Collision Detection algorithm going on… then it repeats until the file is eventually xmitted… long time later.
Must point out that the internet connection works fine for all 3 pieces of equipment.
What should I check on them so they can intercommunicate at top speed?
What is the best router to use for LAN at home?
I want to network two computers together. (See my other question “Sharing DSL service?”)
I want a good quality router that will perform well and give good security without paying an arm and leg.
I found a Refurbished CISCO1604-R for $35.00. Is this a good price?
Anybody have an opinion on this particular router or on D-Link, Linksys or Cisco routers?
Thanks.
